Those two facts define the three purchases worth making back there, and they are independent of one another.

Three Decisions, Not One

Floor Protection: Start With the Load Floor

The Ioniq 5 all-weather cargo mat is a TPE liner shaped for the cargo floor, and it is the broadest-fitting cargo product here: the listing names both the Ioniq 5 and the Ioniq 5 N, model years 2022 through 2026. On a vehicle where interior products are otherwise carved up by console variant and interior generation, that breadth is worth noticing — the cargo floor did not change the way the console did.

One check does apply, and the fitment note names it: confirm your cargo floor height and subfloor position before ordering. The Ioniq 5's cargo floor can sit at more than one height depending on how the subfloor is arranged, and a contour-cut mat assumes one of them. A mat sized for the lower position sitting on a raised floor will not seat against the walls; one sized for the raised position sitting low leaves the perimeter uncovered where spills actually collect.

TPE is the right material for this application. It stays flexible in cold weather instead of going stiff, it lifts out to be rinsed rather than shampooed, and it contains liquid rather than absorbing it. In an enclosed crossover cargo well with no drain, containment is the whole job.

The Folded-Seat Problem Most Owners Miss

Here is the gap in a floor-only setup, and it appears the first time you carry something long. Fold the rear seats and the load area roughly doubles — but the new half of it is the back of a seat, not a floor, and your cargo mat does not reach it. So the flat-pack, the muddy bike wheel, or the bag of potting soil rests directly on upholstery.

The Ioniq 5 cargo and seatback liner is the product that addresses both surfaces: a rear cargo mat plus second-row seatback protection, listed for 2022 through 2026. It is the right choice if you regularly fold the seats, because it treats the expanded load area as one continuous protected surface rather than a protected floor next to bare upholstery.

Its fitment note asks you to confirm two things: the seatback attachment points and the cargo floor configuration. The first matters because seatback coverage has to anchor somewhere — a panel that only rests against a seatback slides down the moment you load against it. The second is the same subfloor question as the plain cargo mat.

Choosing between the two floor products: if your seats stay up and the cargo area is groceries and bags, the plain cargo mat is sufficient and simpler. If you fold the seats often enough to have thought about it while reading this, buy the set that covers seatbacks. Buying the plain mat first and the combined set later means owning two cargo mats.

Privacy Covers: Two Options, One Requirement

Retractable cargo covers solve a problem specific to a crossover with a large glass area: from outside, anything in the cargo area is on display. That is a theft-opportunity issue in a car park and a sun-exposure issue for anything left back there.

Both share one requirement, and it is the thing to check. The AUXKO note says to confirm the vehicle has the required cargo cover mounting locations; the carbon-texture note says to confirm the required side mounting locations are present. A retractable cover is a cassette that has to anchor into recesses in the cargo-area side trim. Cars without those recesses have nothing for the cassette to sit in, and no cover in this category is self-supporting. Look into the side trim on both sides of your cargo area before ordering either.

How the Three Interact

They stack cleanly, with one caveat.

1. Mat and cover coexist without issue. One is on the floor, the other spans above it at the level of the side trim.
2. Seatback liner and cover coexist, since the cover anchors above and forward of the seatback surface.
3. The caveat is height. A retractable cover defines the maximum height of anything you can carry with it deployed. If you routinely stack cargo above the window line, a cover will spend most of its life retracted or removed, which is a reason to weigh whether you want one at all.

Recommended order: floor protection first, because floor damage is the least reversible; privacy cover second, because it is the biggest change to how the car behaves in a car park; seatback coverage decided at the outset rather than added later, since it determines which floor product you buy in step one.
