Rivian R1T Bed and Cargo Setup Guide

The R1T is the only Rivian with a pickup bed, and that single fact governs almost every cargo accessory decision you will make. Shared "R1" branding covers the cabin well, but the moment a product is cut to a floor, a bed, or a front trunk, the R1T and R1S stop being interchangeable — and within the R1T itself, the 2025 Gen 2 update splits the front trunk into a separate fitment problem. This guide works through the R1T's four distinct cargo zones, what fits each one, and the specific mistakes that cost owners a return shipment.

The Four Cargo Zones, and Why They Never Share Parts

Treat these as four separate shopping lists. A part that fits one tells you nothing about the others.

Start With the Bed: Match the Length, Then the Liner

The single most useful bed accessory is a fitted mat, and it is also where people most often order the wrong thing. The LASFIT R1T 4.5 ft bed mat is cut for the R1T's 4.5 ft bed across model years 2022 through 2026, and its listing carries an exclusion that matters more than the fitment range: it is not intended for trucks that already have a drop-in bed liner.

That exclusion trips up buyers who assume a mat and a liner stack. They do not. A drop-in liner already occupies the bed's contour, so a mat cut to bare sheet metal will sit proud, bunch at the walls, or refuse to lie flat at the bulkhead. Before you order, look in your bed and decide which one you are running — bare bed plus mat, or drop-in liner alone.

Two things to confirm on your own truck:

• Bed length. The mat is cut for 4.5 ft. Do not carry over a bed product sized for a conventional full-size pickup; those are cut for longer beds and will not terminate correctly at the tailgate.
• Existing hardware. Rails, dividers, and cargo hardware installed in the bed change what a full-floor mat can clear.

TPE is the right material choice for a bed mat used the way an R1T bed usually gets used. It stays flexible in cold weather rather than going board-stiff, and it can be pulled out and hosed down, which matters when the load is firewood or a muddy bike.

Roof and Bed Crossbars: The Position Decides the Rules

The Rivian R1 cargo crossbars are factory cargo hardware supplied as a pair, and they are the one accessory here where we deliberately will not tell you a number. Crossbars can serve more than one mounting position on an R1, and the load limit is a property of the position and accessory combination, not of the bars alone. Rivian publishes the limits that apply to your truck and the accessory stack you are building; use those, and confirm the intended mounting position in current Rivian documentation before you order rather than after.

This is not hedging for its own sake. Overloading a roof or bed crossbar is the failure mode with the worst consequences on this list, and the correct figure depends on hardware Rivian can see and we cannot. What we can say usefully:

1. Decide the mounting position first — roof or bed — because that determines whether the bars are even the right product.
2. Read the limit for that position, then subtract the weight of the carrier, basket, or box you plan to bolt to the bars, not just the cargo.
3. Recheck the limit whenever you change the accessory on top, because the stack, not the bar, is what is rated.

If your goal is a taller external load, factor in that anything on the roof changes the vehicle's overall height. Low garages and drive-through clearances are a real consideration on a truck that is already tall before you add bars.

The Front Trunk Is a Generation Question, Not a Model Question

The R1T frunk is the zone most likely to produce a wrong order, because the correct part depends on when your truck was built rather than which R1 you own.

• 2022 through 2024 (Gen 1): the R1 frunk cooler organizer is listed for these years. It is an insulated, compartmented organizer with three adjustable dividers that sits in the lower frunk, so it does double duty as a grocery corral and a soft cooler for a trailhead.
• 2025 and 2026 (Gen 2): the Gen 2 frunk mat is the TPE liner shaped for the second-generation front trunk. Its listing is explicit that it is not for a 2022 through 2024 frunk.

Do not read that split as sellers being cautious. Gen 2 reworked hardware under the hood, and coverage of the Gen 2 R1 has noted a hood-mounted heat pump that occupies some of the frunk volume the Gen 1 had free. Whatever the exact cause on your truck, the practical consequence is the same: the frunk is a different shape, and a liner cut for one generation will not sit correctly in the other. The Camp Speaker Bay: Storage You Already Paid For

The center console's camp speaker compartment is dead space on any R1 whose owner does not carry the Rivian camp speaker. The R1 camp speaker drawer organizer converts that bay into a lockable, divided drawer, listed for R1T and R1S across 2022 through 2026.

The tradeoff is stated plainly on the listing and worth repeating: this replaces use of the compartment for the camp speaker. If you actually carry the speaker, this is not your accessory. If the bay has been empty since delivery, it is one of the highest-value storage additions on the truck because it needs no tools and adds lockable space in the cabin rather than the bed.

What Not to Buy for an R1T

One product in the catalog is a common mis-order for R1T owners. The R1S all-weather cargo liner is shaped for the R1S's enclosed rear trunk floor, and its own listing notes it is not presented for the R1T bed. An SUV cargo well and a pickup bed are different surfaces with different drainage, different walls, and different load paths. Before You Buy

• Confirm your bed is bare before ordering a mat, or accept that a drop-in liner and a fitted mat are an either/or choice.
• Read your build year against the Gen 1 / Gen 2 split before buying anything shaped to the frunk.
• Decide the crossbar mounting position first, then follow current Rivian load limits for that position and the accessory on top of it.
• Skip the camp speaker drawer if you carry the camp speaker; it occupies the same bay.
• Do not substitute an R1S cargo liner for a bed product, in either direction.
• Check that any bed or roof hardware you add does not obstruct cameras, sensors, recovery points, or safety labels.
